Phonics and early reading information evening for Nursery, Reception and Year 1 parents

We will be having a meeting in school on Thursday 17th March at 6pm to share information about our new phonics scheme and reading books. There will a short presentation, questions and answers and an opportunity to view the resources and speak with staff.

Please fill in the survey below if you are planning to attend as this will enable us to plan for the right number of parents. We will make this as interesting as possible but it isn’t suitable for children.

Intention to attend survey

If you are unable to attend, all information will be made available on the website and on Tapestry.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Impact of pupils arriving late

Dear Parents, Carers and Pupils,

The register closes and lessons start at 9am.

The school day is very carefully planned to maximise all learning opportunities. If children are late, they are missing learning time and classroom routines. If a child arrives at 9:15am everyday, they are missing 1 hour and 15 minutes of learning per week and in most cases, this is phonics and spelling.  This is also having  a significant impact on other children’s learning.

Procedures

If children are late and arrive after 9am, they must be brought to the office to register that they are here.

I am aware that occasionally life may present us with things that may make us late. However, if your child is late regularly, please contact me and we may be able to support you in getting your child to class on time.

Thank you all for your understanding.

Covid 19 guidance update 27/02/2022

Dear Parents, Carers and Pupils,

I hope you have all had a great half term break.

As you are all aware, the government guidance regarding Covid 19 has changed. We are waiting for more information from Derbyshire Public Health and we will give more detailed guidance as we get it.

However,  our procedures and guidance from last half term will remain in place. The guidance (click link) states –

There is no longer a legal requirement for people with coronavirus (COVID-19) infection to self-isolate, however if you have any of the main symptoms of COVID-19 or a positive test result, the public health advice is to stay at home and avoid contact with other people.

If a member of staff or pupil tests positive for Covid 19, we are asking that they don’t come to school until they have tested negative. This is following the guidance above and minimises the disruption of pupil and staff absence and keeps our school community safe.

Have a lovely evening.

World Book Day – Thursday 3rd March

World Book Day is on Thursday 3rd March.

This is always a very well supported event and most importantly, it highlights the importance and joy of reading.

  • All pupils and staff can dress as a book character.
  • Book swap – Pupils can donate a book to swap. We will collect all books in and throughout the day, classes will come and each pupil can choose another book.
