I currently have 2 children both enjoying the environment and education offered by St James School and I believe it is vital that parents have a voice so that we understand the direction the school is being taken and why and how improvements are being made. I thoroughly understand the challenges faced by the school and that makes me want to support their work and vision of the school to ensure it provides the best possible education for all our children.

I have worked in financial services insurance in a Risk & Compliance role for 20 years and for the last 5 years for Bupa, a global Private Medical Insurer. My work involves ensuring that the business adheres to its documented policies and procedures and has effective systems and controls in place ensuring customers are treated fairly, their data is securely protected in line with GDPR requirements, and that the business does not break regulatory rules. I challenge the directors and senior leadership team to demonstrate that its approach delivers good customer outcomes and meets our regulatory obligations. Where this doesn’t happen, I support them to deliver the required improvements. I believe this would assist me in ensuring the school leadership team deliver as expected and I would challenge and support them accordingly.

During my spare time I am a level 1 qualified FA football coach, (working towards level 2) currently managing Tintwistle Athletic U10s football team, for whom my son plays for. I have been doing this for 4 years, and for the last 2 years I’ve been on the club committee ensuring that it delivers on its footballing philosophy and provides local children of all abilities with a safe and enjoyable environment in which to develop. I thoroughly enjoy training and coaching the children and have built up a great rapport, gaining their confidence, building a relationship of trust and understanding with both the children and their parents.

As a parent governor, I believe I could become part of the team that supports the Headteacher, staff and most importantly, the education, well-being and safety of all our children.
